The Waterfall is a scarf that draws its inspiration from Japanese prints and more particularly the series “A Tour of the Waterfalls of the Provinces” by Hokusai. In this series, I really liked the way the artist paints and represents water, sometimes almost abstract, giving it a magical aura, almost sacred.
Inspired by Japanese patterns and the idea of the moving water, The Waterfall is a scarf playing with shades of blue and contrasting with khakis and powdered pinks, color palette used in The Winter Garden Collection.
About Hokusai
In this series of prints dating from 1833, Hokusai payed tribute to the beauty and the power of water. Hokusai used many colors, especially Prussian blue, and contrasted this almost magical water with yellows and greens to paint the surrounding landscape.
